The ‘Theatre Plaza’ site

Inside the 'Theatre Plaza'

The ‘Theatre Plaza’ site designates a place better known to locals as the Ford Cottage from the name of its recent occupier, a Grade II listed Tudor Cottage, which has now left the premises for a new life near St Mary’s Church.

‘Theatre Plaza’ is a scheme devised by DLG architects for their client Fenchurch Investments Limited.  The name was coined by Arthur Freeman, Chairman of the Fenchurch Investments Limited, and was chosen to highlight the link with the neighbouring theatre and arts centre, The Lights.

The ‘Theatre Plaza’ site lies at the crossing point of the routes interlinking cultural and educational amenities to the shopping district and the town’s bus station. The ‘Theatre Plaza’ scheme has the ambition to make full use of its advantageous location. It entails the construction of a high-rise hotel as well as a set retail and residential units. The plan will take place in two phases leaving a part of the site partly vacant and available for temporary artistic use.

  1. I am an education officer at Hampshire Museums, based at Andover Museum. We would very much like to hear how the project progresses. Pop in and we’ll put the kettle on!

    • Dear Owain,

Thanks for your interest. We’ll pop in next time we are in Andover. We haven’t got a date in the diary yet but I will let you know when we do!
